On December 18th, we greet the full Cold Moon. Her name, given by the Mohawk Indians, refers to the gripping and frigid conditions typically seen this time of year.
While last year's Cold Moon was a period of taking time to pause and reflect, this year's Cold Moon challenges us to awaken our passions as a way to remain optimistic and productive. In the next 30-day cycle, we are challenged to rediscover and recharge ourselves.
One place to start is to rediscover what drives you? Consider revisiting the passions, hobbies, and joys in life that you may have let slip away this last year. Spend time in prayer, meditation, or journaling to rediscover your spiritual and worldly purposes.
Challenge
Dust off your journal and create a new entry
Light a candle and settle with a hot tea, coffee, or chocolate
Attend a holiday service at your place of worship
Tune into a holiday movie or live stream service
Let's Get Physical
Indulge in your physical senses this winter. Enjoy the twinkling lights on your tree. The smell of fireplaces burning throughout the neighborhood. Feel the bite of the crisp, frosty air on your face. Reconnect with your physical body and find joy in the smaller things in life.
Challenge
Take a hike
Walk the dog in a different area around the neighborhood
Go birding with the family
Build a snowman, go sledding, or ice skating - enjoy the cold
Do some yard work
String the outside lights and holiday decor
Refresh Your Crystals
Be sure to take this opportunity to charge your crystals in windowsills or in a safe place in your garden. (Be sure to warm them up slowly when you bring them back inside.) Your healing stones will store the psychic vibrations of the Cold Full Moon and this will maximize their benefits.
Challenge
Cleanse your crystals with your favorite method
Recharge them under the full moon energy
Reset your altar or sacred space
Spotlight Crystal - Garnet
Garnet purifies and balances energy, bringing serenity or passion as appropriate, making it the perfect crystal to carry with you on this journey.
