The new moon in April is a time of new beginnings. It's a time to refresh and renew your energy and to clear out any negative energies that are no longer serving you. This season is all about new beginnings and fresh starts! Here are 4 ways that you can use the new moon's energy to refresh and renew your life.

1. Shake off Winter Blahs

Time to shake off those winter blahs!

Now is the time to get up and get out again. As the weather starts to improve and Mother Nature herself starts to awaken and stir, take your cue from her and shake off your winters blahs! Get outside, take a nature walk, and breathe in some fresh air.

Suggestions

  • Do a walking meditation. Turn off your phone, leave the pooch at home and actually listen, smell, and pay attention to everything you encounter on your walk.

  • Do a spring-oriented arts and craft project (colored eggs come to mind!)

  • Change your phone, tablet, or computer wallpaper to something spring-like! (Bonus! Free download of one of my personal designs!)

  • Plan a spring getaway - This can be a real or imaginary trip. Have fun with it!

  • Start a new project – whether that’s cleaning out the garage, taking on a new hobby, or starting that business you’ve been dreaming about.

2. Clean Up, Clear Out

Get Ready for Your Spring Garden

Start your Spring Cleaning. This Spring new moon is the perfect time to start spring cleaning - both your physical space and your inner space. Get rid of anything that no longer serves you, whether it's old clothes that you never wear or negative thoughts and patterns that are holding you back. When you clear out the old, you make space for the new!

  • Do a physical cleaning. Start with one area if you are feeling overwhelmed with too much to do.

  • Clear your mental and emotional space. This can be done through journaling, meditation, or even just sitting with yourself and taking some deep breaths.

  • Give yourself a fresh start. Forgive past shortcomings. Resolve to do better next time.

  • Get fresh! Whether it's a new haircut, new clothes, or just a new attitude, make sure you are starting this season off with a fresh perspective!

3. Release What No Longer Serves You

Smudge Your Area!

Take a look around. What is no longer serving you? The new moon is a time for new beginnings and to let go of any negative energy that you may have been holding onto from the winter months. If you've been feeling down or stuck, now is the time to let go of those feelings and start fresh. You can also do this by meditating on what you want to let go of and visualization yourself releasing it into the universe.

  • Smudge - Drag out your white sage and fire that baby up! Let's smudge that crap out of here!

  • One way to do this is to write down everything that you want to let go of on a piece of paper. Once you've done this, burn the paper releasing the unwanted energy.

  • If you have things that are still in good condition but you no longer need or want them, why not donate them to your local charity? This is a great way to clear out your space and help others at the same time.

  • Properly dispose of things that are beyond repair and no longer have any service left in them. And yes, that means old, worn-out relationships too!

4. Plant New Seeds of What You DO Desire

Spend some quality time journaling

The new moon is also a great time to start new projects. Now is the time to start fresh and set new intentions for what you want to create in your life over the next 30 days. What do you want more of? What are your dreams and goals? What steps can you take to move closer to them?

  • Literally, plant some seeds! Start an herb garden.

  • Plan and start a new project.

  • Spend some quality journal time and really decide what you want to accomplish over the next few weeks or months. Write it down. Plan it. Dream it!

  • Do a make-over! Try a new look on your makeup. Change up your hair color. Get a new cut. Purchase a new outfit!

  • Do a mini-remodel on your most stale, worn-out space. It doesn't have to be big, simply change up the towels, add some new placemats on the table, add some fresh flowers... get creative!

  • Clean out your closet or drawers. Get it organized.

So there you go, that's four Things to do for April's New Moon. New moon energy is a powerful time to set new intentions for the season of renewal. I hope these four suggestions help you to use the spring clearing energy to its fullest potential. As always, be sure to listen to your intuition and inner guidance as you move through this new moon phase. Trust that you are being divinely guided every step of the way.
